Dave on The issues important to Vermonters

affordability

Vermonters are facing unprecedented rising property taxes, health care costs, energy prices, and everyday expense. Vermont families are struggling to make ends meet. Dave will work to control the growth of property taxes, improve transparency and accountability in state spending, and reduce unnecessary regulations that increase housing and business costs. Dave is committed to supporting policies that help working families keep more of what they earn.

housing

Many of the challenges facing Vermont can be traced back to a lack of affordable housing. Housing shortages are impacting communities across Vermont, including in Barre Town and Williamstown. More and more Vermonters feel the dream of homeownership may be out of reach. Dave will work to expand housing options for working families, seniors, and young professionals.

Dave’s service on the Act 250 Commission has given Dave first hand experience with Vermont’s complicated permitting system. Dave is committed to streamlining permitting while protecting Vermont’s natural resources and encouraging redevelopment of existing properties and village centers.

health care

Vermonters deserve access to affordable, high-quality health care close to home. Dave will work to address health care workforce shortages, improve access to primary care and mental health services, and support rural hospitals and community providers. Dave is committed to finding solutions that will help lower health care costs for families and Vermont’s small businesses.

education

Strong local schools are the foundation of strong communities - but rising property taxes are burdening families and must be addressed. Dave supports maintaining high-quality education for all students. Dave believes it is critical to improve efficiency and accountability in education spending while supporting teachers and making sure they have the resources in the classroom to provide a quality education.

workforce & the economy

Vermont employers need workers, and workers need opportunities. Dave will support workforce training and apprenticeship programs and work to expand access to careers in the skilled trades and technical fields.

Dave understands that Vermont’s small business are critical for thriving communities and will work to reduce barriers for businesses to establish and grow in Vermont.
